Os oitenta anos do Oscar

Abaixo, os oitenta melhores filmes, os melhores atores e as melhores atrizes, desde 1928. Oitenta filmes — e mais de oitenta atores e atrizes, porque nestes dois casos houve empates.

Quanto aos melhores filmes, gostaria de destacar meus quatro “all time favorites” (tenho outros “all time favorites”, mas não ganharam o Oscar):

1939: Gone with the Wind (E o Vento Levou)
1940: Rebecca
1943: Casablanca (este foi o ano em que nasci)
1965: The Sound of Music (Noviça Rebelde)

Quanto aos atores e atrizes, houve mais atrizes que ganharam mais de um prêmio — com Katharine Hepburn ganhando o absurdo de quatro!

Houve ocasiões em que um ator ganhou o prêmio “back to back” — dois anos seguidos. Spencer Tracy e Tom Hanks, por exemplo, entre os melhores atores, e Katharine Hepburn, entre as melhores atrizes.

Houve prêmios recusados: George C. Scott e Marlon Brando (neste caso, o segundo dele).

Desde 1968 venho acompanhando os Oscars regularmente. Em Agosto do ano anterior fui estudar nos Estados Unidos e, no início do ano seguinte, assisti ao meu primeiro Oscar na televisão. Faz quarenta anos este ano. Como o Oscar comemora oitenta, eu tive o privilégio de assistir à metade deles.

Em 1968 o melhor filme foi In the Heat of the Night, com Sidney Poitier e Rod Steiger. O filme aparece abaixo com a data de 1967 porque foi lançado nesse ano. Mas o prêmio foi entregue no início de 1968. Rod Steiger foi premiado como o Melhor Ator por esse filme e Katharine Hepburn foi premiada como Melhor Atriz pelo filme “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner”, também com Sidney Poitier. Lembro-me das imagens daquele dia como se fosse hoje.
